Santa Claus is the mythical figure .He is generally depicted as a fat, jolly man with a white beard, dressed in a red suit trimmed with white and the fur boots. Santa Claus, legendary bringer of gifts on Christmas Eve, entering houses through the chimney to leave presents under the Christmas tree and in the stockings of all good children. It is believed that Santa lives at the North Pole with his wife Mrs. Clause, a crew of industrious elves, and a stable of magical, flying reindeer. These elves make toys. On 24th December, Santa is said to drive a sleigh full of toys drawn through the air by nine reindeer: Blitzen, Comet, Cupid, Dancer, Dasher, Donder, Prancer, Vixen and Rudolph. Rudolph, the ninth reindeer is with a shiny nose. Throughout the year he makes toys and tallying the "naughty" and "nice" acts of hundreds of children. On the night of December 24 Santa visits the houses of all good boys and girls to deliver gifts. Santa is believed to have the habit of filling socks or stockings with presents on the night of December 24th and entering houses through the chimney. The laughter of Santa Clause, the booming “ho ho ho” is the life breath of any Christmas party. “Santa Claus” comes from the Dutch “Sinter Klass,” which in turn means “St. Nicholas.” He was born in the 4th century in Lycia, Anatolia. St. Nicholas became a bishop of the church at Myra, Turkey. St. Nicholas performed a number of miracles, associated with saving storm-tossed sailors, defending young children, and giving generous gifts to the poor. St. Nicholas is still revered as the patron saint of seamen, merchants, archers, children, prisoners and pawnbrokers.Many legends and miracles are attributed to him: ·        When he was an infant, his mother only nursed him on Wednesdays and Fridays; he fasted the remaining days.·        He halted a storm at sea in order to save three drowning sailors.·        His father left him a fortune that he used to help poor children·        He grabbed the sword of an executioner to save the life of a political prisoner.
