About Koala
A Koala will spend the majority of its day - about 22 hours - sleeping in its eucalyptus tree. Its sharp claws and nimble feet help to hold on to the branches, even when it is asleep. Koalas are nocturnal animals, which means that they are active mainly at night. During the 2 hours a koala is awake, it will feed on 1 to 2 pounds (0.4 to 0.9 kg) 0f eucalyptus leaves. A koala never needs to drink water; it gets enough liquid from its food. An average koala is about 2 feet (0.6 meter) tall and weighs about 22 pounds (10 kg).
